Embracing Everyone’s Differences is the Best and Only Real Option For Us

Diversity enriches and shapes our lives in so many ways. I was ecstatic to learn that Sogeti USA was implementing a program specifically for female employees, and I’m honored to be part of Innovation Through Inclusion (ITI) founding group. We have many good programs here at Sogeti, but the ITI program is very close to my heart.

Of course, diversity goes beyond gender: there’s diversity in people’s origin, culture, religion, educational background, beliefs, etc.

So, our ITI program includes communities dedicated supporting veterans, Asians, African Americans, Latinx, LGBTQ, employees with disabilities, millennials, and more. To me a diverse workforce is something that we should embrace. Everyone brings tremendous experience, culture, and perspectives. It’s important to understand that everyone has a lot to contribute to the overall success of Sogeti.

I definitely worked very hard to get where I am today 😊. However, I want to recognize the Sogeti mentors, both women and men, that I’m lucky enough to have crossed paths with. They believed in me, made opportunities available to me, and provided me plenty of support along the way. They made me feel that I can have a limitless career at Sogeti.

But it’s not just the people I’ve worked with who have impacted my life in a positive way. My mom is my greatest role model. She taught me to work hard and to be a good, genuine, and ethical person, being content with everything that life brings me. She is classy, caring, loving, and wise. Everything that I strive for (my principles, my values) is inspired by her.

Sharing my experience and helping my team members is extremely meaningful to me, and there are some things that I’ve learned on my way to my current position:

  • Don’t turn down any opportunity and don’t shy away from taking on the most difficult tasks, even when it’s the most insignificant role or a task that is way outside of your comfort zone.
  • Volunteer for as many things as you can, so that you can connect with individuals you wouldn’t normally and make a name for yourself.
  • Finding your niche—that thing you possess that others don’t; itcan take you very far at Sogeti and in life. So take some time to find the thing that you are most passionate about.

I believe in Sogeti’s foundation and core values, and I’m extremely grateful to be a Sogetian. I’ve been here 18 years and there are always new and exciting opportunities that make Sogeti an awesome place to work. I hope to stay here for as long as I can as I feel empowered to make real change.

If you’re a female colleague reading this, please know that you can make it at Sogeti. You will work hard, but you will get where you want to be.
