I Love Learning and Trying New Things

Variety is definitely the spice of life for Tera Hunt, a Senior Consultant in our Digital Transformation practice. In her blog, she discusses how being a Sogeti consultant appeals to her adventurous side.

I have always loved to try new things, whether that is food or hobbies, and work is no different. So, I was drawn to Sogeti because I knew I would have the chance to work with different technologies on different projects intrigued me (the stellar 401K benefit was the cherry on top of an already lucrative job opportunity 😊).

I’m currently doing a lot of work with React, a JavaScript library for building user interface components. As a consultant in the Digital Transformation practice, I have had the chance to work with mobile, web, and even game development, which has been fun and exciting.

The current projects I am working on are iPad mini games that will give insight into shoppers’ psychology. I’m also working on a survey application that will allows users to provide feedback on the experiences they have in using our client’s products and services. I’m also working on a news article platform that will be displayed on a wall-sized touchscreen and allow users to read about events going on around the world in a more visual and interactive way.

Each of these products require problem-solving and creativity, and whenever I get to do either of those things, I feel highly motivated. Sogeti has given me so many opportunities to flex my creative and problem-solving muscles, which is important for me to feel like I’m making a meaningful contribution.

Working at Sogeti has been fun, and it has also been a learning experience. When I first started, I didn’t like asking questions because I was afraid it would appear like I didn’t know what I was doing. Now I feel comfortable asking team members/clients questions and I have learned a lot faster and more because of it.

I’ve also had so many opportunities to network and meet like-minded individuals. I spent my first few days at Sogeti at new hire bootcamp in Austin, Texas. It gave me a chance to meet a lot of Sogetians from around the country, so it was a really cool networking experience and made me feel less alone. That was a great way to start a new job on a positive note.

But the opportunities for socializing and meeting new people didn’t end there. Our Women in IT group has been another platform for me to network with other Sogeti consultants, especially women consultants. Summer of Service is another really fun opportunity to hang out with co-workers while helping others.

At the end of the day, I’m very happy with my decision to come to Sogeti. It has been a learning experience that has given me the opportunities that I don’t think I would have gotten anywhere else.
