I Fell in Love with the People and Culture of Sogeti

Alexis Palmer, a brand new Sogetian in our Insights & Data, shares her thoughts on her first few weeks at Sogeti and what motivates her to keep growing.

Role: Associate Consultant
Practice: Insights & Data

Joined Sogeti: 2019

During my time at Ohio University, I participated in the Ohio International Consulting Program (OICP) and had an internship with Sogeti. I was a Junior Consultant and did a mock consultant project for card payment company. I loved the idea of getting to help other companies solve the IT problems they’re experiencing. It was such an amazing experience and by the end of it, I fell in love with the people and culture of Sogeti. I knew Sogeti was the place for me.

And here I am 😊

My first day at Sogeti was great! I just recently graduated from Ohio University, so this was definitely an adjustment. I’ve only been at Sogeti for a few weeks, and I’m currently shadowing a client that makes datacenters. Everyone has been so kind whenever I’ve had questions, so that’s made the adjustment easier.

I recently finished the two-week new hire academy at Austin Landing in Dayton, which is close to our Corporate office. I got a chance to make connections with new hires from across the county as well as meeting people who’ve been with Sogeti for a while. It was a great experience, and I made a lot of new friends. We also had free time, so we were able to go to dinner together, go to the movies, and play putt putt golf.

As I’ve learned more and more about my role, I’ve realized I really enjoy working with upfront software like Power BI and Python. So, I’ve decided to do a certificate in Python so I can continue to grow my skills. It’s more work, but in the long run I know it will make me a better consultant and bring more value to Sogeti and my clients.

The biggest influence in my life was my grandfather. He always told me, “Education, education, education. You work hard to sign the front of the check, not the back and always be a lady.” He always inspired me to be better. He once told me people can take everything away from you, your house, car, money, but they can never take your mind. Education was so important to me, and he definitely passed that on to me. It’s what motivates me to continue learning and growing.

The consultant role really suits me as I’ve always been a hardworking, positive person. And my family motivates me to give my best every time. They have always been supportive of me in everything I have done. It’s really important for me to have that support system behind me.

I’m just at the beginning of my career, but I’m already looking toward the future. In 5-10 years, I see myself advancing my career, starting a family, and owning my first home. *fingers crossed*
