Happiness Advantage

Reboot Happiness

Digital happiness is rapidly becoming the new frontier of competition.

It's becoming clear: Digital Happiness is under attack. Our new research report that is being launched today, pleads for more digital happiness. People first is more than a slogan. The darker side of digital life is increasingly coming to the fore. Fake news disrupts the view of reality, smartphone addiction leads to depression among youth and the digital manipulation of our behavior poses a potential danger to democracy. Tim Berners-Lee, spiritual father of the Internet, even speaks of a the Web being weaponized. He wonders whether the rest of the population should be connected to the internet as it stands now. Digital happiness as a leading design principle for society as a whole and all organizations that operate in it is necessary for a radical change of course.

Positive Computing

The design principles from a new field, Positive Computing, forms the basis for the necessary changes. Positive Computing does not stand alone. It is part of a much larger movement including many scientists who are engaged in artificial intelligence. The future is at risk if not human values, but other matters, such as advertising are central. The fact that data of 87 million citizens have been potentially used to undermine democracy and to manipulate our behavior is one of the design faults that must be rectified.

New trend report: The happiness advantage

The trend report provides insight into the influence of digital happiness on our lives and what organizations can learn from this to be successful. In order to prevent problems in which Mark Zuckerberg ended up, organizations should take the digital principles of happiness from the report to heart. The humanistic morality that is being proposed also creates opportunities that are often lacking in many ethical discussions about digital behavior. By imposing restrictions only, a lot of opportunities get lost. The happiness benefit that can be gained from further digitization is huge. Digital technology has so much more to offer. But that benefit can only be achieved if we can better understand the paradoxical and unique effect that digital technology has on our happiness.

In five chapters, the reader gains insight in how to develop an organizational vision based on the happiness advantage, learns what makes digital happiness different from happiness in the physical world, and how to prevent the violation of digital happiness and how you measure it.
