Sogeti USA gives back during 11th annual Summer of Service

Sogeti USA wrapped up it's 11th year of Summer of Service with three grand prize winners

Sogeti USA wrapped up our annual Summer of Service program in early September and this was a year for the books! This 11th year of service was the first summer in two years that Sogetians had the chance to reconnect in person to complete projects due to the impact of the pandemic.

This year’s project theme of “Sogeti Strong” was represented by the many individuals who gave back to their communities and led by example in their corporate social responsibility efforts. From May 31 to September 6, Sogeti USA units completed 39 projects, volunteered more than 75 hours and raised almost $7,000. In addition to this $7,000, Sogeti gives back $10,000 in cash prizes to organizations chosen by project winners. Sogetians submit their completed projects to a team of representatives who choose winners in a variety of categories.

Summer of Service projects are created to align with Sogeti's three corporate social responsibility pillars: diversity, digital inclusion, and environmental sustainability. This year, we had a variety of projects including many units who worked at local foodbanks, groups that gathered school supplies or much needed materials for local charities, and employees who gathered together .

This year’s three grand prize winners were:

Diversity – Des Moines Unit volunteering with Kiwanis Miracle League

  • 9 Sogetians from Des Moines joined with Kiwanis Miracle League to provide a game of baseball for children with special needs. Everyone bats, everyone scores, and every game ends in a tie. They were buddied up with individual players to help them field, hit and run bases, and cheer them on throughout the game!

Digital Inclusion - Southwest Ohio Unit holding a virtual fundraiser for the Freestore Foodbank

  • This unit hosted a virtual Food Drive for Freestore Foodbank raising $465, equating 1,395 meals for children in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky who don’t have a reliable source of nutritious food.

Environmental Sustainability - Southwest Ohio Unit cleaning up

  • 13 Sogetians from this unit got up early on a Saturday to volunteer with the WAVE Foundation to remove 30 bags of trash from the Ohio riverbank.
