Company Overview

The client is a leading provider of education loans who currently owns or manages student loans for more than seven million borrowers.

Business Challenge

Since the client’s merger with a similar business, the client was challenged with streamlining all of their IT services, including the numerous internet applications. Their goal was to create one enterprise wide internet presence to combine and consolidate all of their existing functionality as well as create an infrastructure for future functionality.

Solution

The client had developed a single architecture, AIA (Application Integration Architecture) to run all applications. Sogeti USA was engaged to design and develop an enterprise application integration (EAI) architecture for the messaging portion of their AIA system.

Sogeti USA isolated applications into objects and utilized WebSphere’s MQ series to manage the routing of messages between applications. Sogeti USA also assisted in the design of the architecture and developing the messaging connectors utilizing J2EE technologies.

Results

With a single enterprise-wide architecture, the client now has standards for how future applications will be developed. Additionally, each application development team will no longer be responsible for creating their own application architecture; they must only integrate their application into the existing enterprise-wide architecture. This translates into both time and money savings for future development and streamline their existing applications.
