Founded in Grenoble, France, Sogeti was an immediate success largely due to the founding vision, management principles and core values that laid stress on an entrepreneurial culture, decentralized structure, independence, profitability, cost effective business model and honesty. These attributes remain strong in Sogeti even today.

Following a series of acquisitions, the company later became known as Cap Gemini Sogeti - and eventually as simply, "Cap Gemini." In 2000, Cap Gemini acquired Ernst & Young Consulting and renamed the new combined entity, "Cap Gemini Ernst & Young." This new company was to focus on large-scale global management consulting and major outsourcing services.
